Maryland acquires it´s name after Mary, some people believe is after queen Henrietta Maria of France (The queen consort of England, Scotland and Ireland who was known for her Catholic faith ), others believe is named after mother Mary (Jesus mother). The neighborhood that I liked the most is Fell Point, where the houses are clearly influence by the British. Some houses and barns in Maryland have a five point star in their walls. I found out that came as a devotion to the Virgin Mary and is emblematic of their Catholic faith. As a State with a port, sailors use stars as a guidance reference to find a save place through storms and reefs, to indicate how far they were from their destinations.
Maryland has the Eastern shore, where the Chesapeake Bay is located. The Bay contents more that 150 rivers and merge into the Atlantic Ocean.
Most of the people there make there living as fishermen. Each year is more difficult to get crabs and oysters. I thought at a first glance that maybe the chemicals of the farms were going into the Bay but the government had regulated where the farmers can and can not spray the chemicals so they won’t go into the water when it rains. But in a second glance I discover that the She Crabs are more demanded so if you only fish she crabs…so its a matter of birds and bees among other problems that can’t be knows in a glance.
The daffodils began to bloom in the woods and Ospreys start building their nest. Saw them everywhere and learn that this falcons eat fish and thats why they choose the coast around North and South American to mate.
